POROTON eco PS. Blocks for bearing masonry in seismic areas. Ease of construction, lower costs, more safety.

POROTON eco Structural blocks, characterized as POROTON 800, according to the standards of the Poroton Italia Consortium, are semi-solid elements, with a drilling percentage of less than 45%, suitable for use in the construction of load-bearing walls in any type of seismic zone. Their geometric and mechanical characteristics fully satisfy the requirements of the D.M. 17/01/2018 (Technical Standards for Construction) being characterized by:

  • continuous and rectilinear partitions arranged parallel to the plane of the wall (except for the permitted interruptions in correspondence with any intake holes);
  • characteristic compressive strength of the elements,
    • in the plane of the wall, in the vertical direction fbk ≥ 5 N/mm2
    • in the orthogonal direction fbk ≥ 1.5 N/mm2;
  • internal septa thickness > mm 7;
  • external wall thickness > mm 10;
  • drilling percentage 15% ≤ φ ≤ 45%;
  • area of the normal section of the hole f ≤ 12 cm2;
  • placement in situ with vertical holes.

All products are CE marked, Category I, with Attestation System 2+. With these characteristics, based on the provisions of paragraph 11.10.1. as well as in art. 4.5.6.1. of the Ministerial Decree 17/01/2018, the safety factor ϒM to be used in checks is more favourable.

This means that, being guaranteed in performance, masonry made with these blocks can benefit from more favorable parameters and coefficients (greater safety and greater savings).

All POROTON eco PS products are characterized by a recovered/recycled content greater than 15% in compliance with the Minimum Environmental Criteria (C.A.M.).

EASE OF CONSTRUCTION • LOWER COSTS • MORE SAFETY

A building with a load-bearing masonry structure, built with POROTON eco PS blocks (density 800), according to the rules of the art, represents the simplest and cheapest construction system in seismic areas, up to  two-three story above ground in full respect of the Ministerial Decree 17/01/2018 (Technical Standards for Construction). The “box” structure is a guarantee of resistance to seismic actions. In addition to the load-bearing walls, which also have function of external envelope, a few other internal wall partitions, in the appropriate positions, are enough to create a system resistant to seismic actions and ensure the necessary bearing capacity while also leaving great freedom of distribution in plan.

With this double load-bearingand envelope, the external walls are obtained:

THE FIRE RESISTANCE CERTIFICATION OF WALL PRODUCTS

For the certification of the Fire Resistance Class of brick walls, the New Code of Fire Prevention provides the use of laboratory tests as wellas specific tables included in the Ministerial Decrees 16/02/2007- Attached “D”, the Ministerial Circular Int. N.1968 del 15/02/2008 and subsequent modifications and additions.
